About Kricket 4 Kenya

Kenya is one of the world’s poorest nations and at the start of 2006 it suffered one of its worst droughts. This has threatened the lives of thousands of children across the country and in some of the worst affected areas the rate of malnutrition is double the World Health Organisation’s critical rate.

This crisis has prompted MWR Solicitors to set up a new charity appeal – Kricket 4 Kenya – to help deprived children from the country.

Our original plan was to focus on cricket as it is one of Kenya’s principal sports. However, it soon became clear that members of the public and sports clubs have unused equipment and clothing from all sports hence the reason we have opened up the campaign.

The project is going to run for approximately one year – maybe longer - and we will be transporting the entire collection of cricket and sports kit over to Kenya in 2007. The Cricket Kenya Association and Friends of Kenya Cricket are assisting MWR with the campaign.

  What do we want?

We are appealing for people, sports clubs and businesses to donate unused cricket or other sports equipment including cricket stumps, footballs, goal-posts, trainers, jumpers, volleyballs, tennis rackets, shorts and sports shirts. In fact, anything sports related will do!

We will be setting up a drop-off centre at our offices at 6 Cannon Street in Preston. There will also be a guest book, which will be taken over to Kenya with the kit, for people to sign and leave messages for the children.

How can you help?

Any contribution would be welcome, so if you or anyone you know has unwanted sports equipment please pass it on.

We will be publicising the progress of the campaign in the local press so you may get a chance to get your name, sports club or business in the paper.
